Quick answer: attendance % = days present / days scheduled x 100. 219 days present out of 230 scheduled is 95.2% attendance and a 4.8% absenteeism rate.
What to count as scheduled
Use the days the person was expected to work. Leave out holidays, approved vacation and protected leave such as FMLA; counting those would make planned or legally protected time look like poor attendance. For a team, add everyone's present days and scheduled days first, then divide, rather than averaging each person's percentage. Track the days on the printable attendance tracker.

Questions
What is a good attendance rate?
It depends on the job and how absences are defined. Compare against your own past months with the same definition rather than a generic benchmark.
How do I calculate absenteeism rate?
Days absent / days scheduled x 100. It is 100 minus the attendance rate when both use the same scheduled days.
