Types of compressed work week
- 4/10: four 10-hour days, one weekday off every week.
- 9/80: nine days over two weeks, every other Friday off.
- 3/12: three 12-hour shifts a week (36 hours), common in nursing; use the shift schedule maker for rotating 12s.
Overtime and the workweek
Federal overtime is counted per workweek, not per day, so compressed schedules that stay at 40 hours a week owe no federal overtime. States with daily overtime rules treat long days differently.
For every other Friday off instead, use the 9/80 schedule calendar.

Questions
Is a 4-day work week 32 or 40 hours?
A compressed 4/10 week is still 40 hours. A reduced four-day week of 32 hours is a different arrangement, usually with the same pay by agreement.
