What time do I clock out after 8 hours?
Add the hours you need to work plus your unpaid lunch to your start time. Starting at 8:00 AM with a 30-minute lunch, 8 hours of work ends at 4:30 PM; with a 1-hour lunch, 5:00 PM.
Federal law does not require a lunch break; a meal period of 30 minutes or more where you are fully relieved may be unpaid, while short breaks of 5 to 20 minutes are paid work time. Several states require meal breaks, so check your state's rules.
