What it is: a weekly schedule split into front of house and back of house, with each person's role and weekly hours.
Scheduling a restaurant week
Start with the busiest services (usually Friday and Saturday dinner), then fill the quieter shifts. Put roles next to names so a manager can see at a glance that each service has a host, enough servers, a bartender and kitchen cover. Split shifts (lunch and dinner the same day) count as one day's hours added together. If staff share tips, the tip pooling calculator uses the same hours.

Questions
Do I have to pay tipped staff overtime?
Yes. Tipped employees are owed overtime after 40 hours in a workweek like anyone else, calculated on the full minimum wage, not the reduced cash wage.
